Club
Lacrosse is an opportunity to be exposed to some
of the best instruction and competition in the
country. Club lacrosse IS NOT a recreational activity.
It can be more aptly characterized as a cross
between high school and collegiate play. For girls
that are serious about playing competitive lacrosse
in high school or college, club lacrosse is a
must. College coaches from virtually every Division
I, II, & III program in the country use the club
lacrosse system to recruit their players. Exposure
for an individual athlete is next to impossible
if you are not on a club team, especially if your
high school team is not competitive on a national
level.
What
is expected of me?
The
Force has one expectation: the Force needs to
be your #1 "out-of-season" lacrosse
commitment. The club season begins the day AFTER
the end of the Ohio Schoolgirls' Lacrosse Association
State Tournament and runs until the day BEFORE
the first day of the OSLA season. To make the
most of your club experience, Force members are
highly encouraged to attend all IWLCA sponsored
tournaments, the college connections week, and
to participate in all club clinics and practices.
Where
will the practices/clinics be held?
Practices
and Clinics will be held in areas where a membership
base is present. Locations will rotate so that
members travel fairly. Currently, practices/clinics
are scheduled in Columbus, Indianapolis, Cleveland,
and Cincinnatti.
Who
will be the clinicians/coaches?
The
Head Coach is Wendy Pinta
Gallapoo. Coach Gallapoo has more than
20 years experience coaching at high school level.
She recently retired having coached 17 seasons
at Upper Arlington High School in Columbus, Ohio.
She led the UA Golden Bears to three state championships
(2002, 2004, & 2005) ended her career with
a 213-78-12 record. Assisting Coach Gallapoo are
former and current collegiate players, as well
as various college coaches from the Division I,
II, & III levels.
Can
I play other sports during the club season?
The
quick answer is "yes." We encourage
players to attend as many camps, clinics, and
tournaments as possible during the club season.
However, playing in a tournament that is an MFL
sponsored venue with another club team (or one
that is comprised of players that are not on your
current high school team) may jeapordize participation
in future MFL events
How
will I travel to Club tournaments? Where will
I stay?
While
the Force encourages parents to travel to support
the players and cheer on the sidelines, solo travel
is permitted for all high school players. The
staff at the Force will coordinate all team transfers
and meals so that players may travel alone. Your
daughter will have a chaperone that will ensure
her safety while in the Force's care.
How
old do I need to be to play for the Force?
Currently,
players must be rising sixth graders through rising
seniors to participate in club events.
How
does this club differ from other club teams in
the area?
The
Force is here to maximize your lacrosse experience.
Whether you are playing club to learn new skills,
to elevate your game, to gain national exposure,
or to just have fun, the Force is committed to
individualizing each player's experience. We strive
to provide not just guidance and support to increase
your skill level, but also your athleticism and
overall game sense. Additionally, we provide support
and guidance in your college search. We assist
our members and their families in all aspects
of the recruiting process including college profiling
and networking in an effort to find the best potential
academic, athletic, social, and financial match.
Can
I play for another club team while maintaining
my membership in MFL?
The
quick answer is "yes." We encourage players to
attend as many camps, clinics, and tournaments
as possible during the club/summer season. However,
playing in a tournament that is an MFL sponsored
venue may jeapordize participation in future MFL
events.
Sounds
Great!! How do I register?
